Paw Lodges at night. |
Step
inside a timber frame house and the word that comes to mind is warmth.
Wood has a natural beauty and warmth that is unmistakable, and timber
frame construction brings it to the forefront. The first thing you'll
notice about most of the floorplans at Bear Paw Lodge is that they locate
the common areas (the kitchen and the Great Room) on the top floor.
These homes
have been designed to take maximum advantage of the beauty of the timber
frames, by putting the main living areas on the upper floor, so the Great
Room and the kitchen feature the best views, and incorporate the warmth
of the timber frame ceiling.
The other
key design principle to note in these floor plans is the attention to
detail in features that are too often overlooked in resort homes. In addition
to the "must-haves" such as adequate storage, these layouts
all features designs that were created specifically for casual resort
living. And each plan brings the spectacular Fernie mountainside seemingly
right inside the living space, through bold windows, natural materials,
and thoughtful designs.

"In
1997, Fernie was a little-known ski town. Five years later skier
visits have doubled and development is rampant." Susan Reifer, Skitowns
article 'Boom Town, B.C.', Nov. 2000.
